Contact your legislators regarding 2021 legislation

During the 2021 General Assembly session, and with the support of Del. Dawn Adams, VCNP is introducing HB 1737. This bill reduces from five to two the number of years of clinical experience an NP must have to be eligible to practice without a written or electronic practice agreement. Please reach out to your legislators now, and ask them to sign on as co-sponsors of HB 1737.

Currently Executive Order 57 allows NPs with two or more years of clinical experience to practice autonomously until the end of the public health emergency. We are hopeful that our 2021 legislation will make these temporary regulations permanent.

The General Assembly session begins on January 13, 2021. While you’re contacting your legislators about co-sponsoring HB 1737, be sure to ask for their support of the legislation as well.
