Tell Grassley, Ernst to protect Iowa seniors

Last year the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services tried to ban the use of forced arbitration clauses in nursing home contracts. Forced arbitration clauses are buried in the fine print and they act as get-out-of-jail-free cards to the corporation. If a dangerous nursing home kills or injures an Iowa senior because the home refused to follow the standard of care, the resident's family cannot bring a lawsuit in court (a constitutional freedom) if the contract included a forced arbitration clause. Instead, the family has to bring their complaint to a private arbitrator that is chosen by the nursing home corporation.

The Trump administration wants to allow nursing homes to use these dangerous forced arbitration clauses that rig the system. Iowa seniors are counting on Senators Grassley and Ernst to protect them and support the ban on forced arbitration, especially in nursing home contracts.
