Tell the budget conferees of the 85th Legislative Session that we support the Governor's priority in funding the Texas Enterprise Fund!
Since its inception, Waco has received three Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) awards, totaling more than $1.5 million in grants, spurring 1,515 new direct jobs and more than $110 million in new capital investment for our community. Those dollars are added to our tax rolls and help support and enhance our community.
Since 2004, the TEF has helped bring over 81,000 new jobs and almost $27 billion in new capital investment to our great state. Just weeks ago, a TEF incentive helped Texas close the deal, beating out competing states in attracting Hulu's new service center, which will immediately create 100 new jobs, 300 by the end of this year, and 500 total by the end of 2018.
The House budget- which is now being reconciled by House and Senate Conferees- eliminated funding for the Texas Enterprise Fund.
The Texas Enterprise Fund has been a critical tool for the growth of jobs and wealth in our state. To eliminate this program sends a message that Texas may no longer be as "business-friendly" as we once were.
Your chamber's economic development team needs all the tools available to attract and support development of new industry and growth. Join us in sending a message to the budget writers that Texans support the Texas Enterprise Fund, and thank them in advance for their commitment to keeping Texas open for business.
