Restoration of WMPC Funds

With Governor Whitmer's line-item vetoes made last week, there was an administrative transfer, stripping $2 million from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ contract with West Michigan Partnership for Children (WMPC).

This is unlike any other veto or line transfer in that this amount funds WMPC’s administrative budget, without which, WMPC will be unable to continue oversight of foster care in Kent County and will shut down operations.

Thank you for contacting the governor and your elected Representative and Senator to urge the $2 million be restored to West Michigan Partnership for Children to avoid an abrupt end two-years into a performance-based foster care pilot for which there was a shared five-year commitment that had bipartisan support and statewide champions.
